Insurance policies


£10 million Public Liability Insurance 
£1 million Professional Indemnity Insurance

These insurance policies only cover certain membership types: 
- Professional Members (by paying an additional £50, pro-rated according to how much of the membership year is left.)
- NCO members (by each member paying an additional £50, pro-rated according to how much of the membership year is left.)

- Corporate members (by each member opting-in for free)

This year our policy is running from 1st September 2023 - 31st August 2024 the price has been prorated accordingly. 



These insurance policies DO NOT cover:
- Future Professional members
- Associate members
- Non-UK based members

Other terms and conditions apply - particularly to limited companies and partnerships - see below.

This policy is only valid if your membership is paid up, i.e. you have renewed your membership. If you have not renewed your membership then you are not covered by these insurance policies.

These policies cover  "The member's occupation as a sound designer or sound engineer including the design, installation, preparation and operation of sound systems, the recording of sound effects, the teaching or mentoring of these activities, and a manager or technician in the theatre, entertainment and conference industries".

Public Liability & Products Liability Insurance

What's covered - Public Liability: Indemnity for your legal liability due to death or bodily injury or disease suffered by third parties, or loss of or damage to third party property arising in the course of your business. The limit of indemnity applies in respect of any one loss or series of losses arising from one event.

What's covered - Products Liability: This section provides you with indemnity for your legal liability due to death or bodily injury or disease suffered by third parties, or loss of or damage to third party property arising from the sale or supply of products within the territorial limits specified below. The limit of indemnity applies in respect of any one period of insurance.

Limit of Indemnity: £10,000,000

Territorial Limits: Worldwide

Jurisdiction: Worldwide

Excess: £250 each and every claim rising to £2,500 for claims in USA/Canada

Indemnity to Principal: Included

Height Limit: No height limit subject to Risk Assessment being followed

Use of Heat: Excluded, other than the use of soldering irons, any other work will need to be referred to performance@performance-insurance.co.uk


Professional Indemnity Insurance

Limit of Indemnity: £1,000,000 each and every claim

Territorial Limits: Worldwide

Jurisdiction: Worldwide, excluding USA/Canada

Excess: £1,000 each and every claim, excluding defence costs


Exclusions of Limited Companies & Partnerships

The policy will not provide any cover to:

  • Any Limited company as defined under the Companies Act 1985 or any subsequent legislation where such company has more than one director unless that additional director is a family member and engaged in clerical duties only.
  • Work performed under a formal partnership arrangement with any party who is not a member of the Association for Sound Design and Production.

Documents

Personalised insurance document

Once you have activated your cover, we will email you a personalised Confirmation of Cover for your records, You can forward this to an employer if needed to show you are covered. If you need it as a PDF version, you can copy-and-paste the text of the email into Word (or a similar word processor), and Print/Save it as a PDF. We can generate this for you if you email us a request to, but we'll only be doing the same thing. We aim to do this within a few days of receiving your submission, but please email us if you need it sooner.
