What I'm working on at the moment
Central develops practitioners and researchers who shape the future of theatre and performance across the UK and beyond. Many of its alumni are household names, and since 1994 it has worked closely with industry partners in training students in specialist design and production roles. Many of the UK theatre sound industry's leading contemporary practitioners either trained on its Theatre Sound degree or have taught on it. Central operates and is based in a multi-venue theatre production complex near the centre of London and is a college of the University of London.
Central's Sound Tutor, Gregg Fisher, was a founder member of the ASD and its Dean of Studies, Professor Ross Brown, is a former theatre composer and sound designer. He now researches the subject and is the author of Sound (2010), one of the Palgrave Readings in Theatre Practice series, which is intended to complement the technical and instructive bibliography of theatre sound with a historical, theoretical and aesthetic perspective.
