Chris began his career at the Sherman Theatre – Cardiff, Wales in 1984 and enjoyed several seasons before moving to the glittering lights of London where Chris worked on West End musicals such as CityofAngels,FiveGuysNamedMoe,LesMisérables,TheRink, Follies,Cats,Chessandseveralseasons with Kenneth Brannah's Renaissance Theatre Company, later honing his design work on productions of Les Misérables in Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic, France and Germany, Candide in Copenhagen and West End productions of Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You, Return to the Forbidden Planet, She Loves Me, Fame, Fosse, Voyeurz and worldwide productions such as Cats, Copacabana, Song and Dance, Evita, Grease, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia!, Oliver!, Fosse, Soul Train, Ragtime, The Gondoliers, Nixon’s Nixon, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Grand Hotel at the Donmar Warehouse, Sweeney Todd, Cabaret, Into the Woods and most recently Shrek and Rock of Ages. He was nominated for awards for his work on Ragtime and Guys and Dolls (West End and Australia).
Chris has spent many seasons over his career designing for some of the world’s most prestigious repertory theatres and producers during which time he has had the pleasure of working with many of today's new and established directors and creative teams. This has seen Chris working on the likes of Craig Revell Horwood’s acclaimed productions of the Hot Mikado and Spend, Spend, Spend as well as many renowned productions with Watermill Theatre which have become West End or Broadway hits.
Chris has worked on events ranging from Grand Opera and Corporate Events to The Prince's Trust concerts. His live broadcast credits include Live From The London Palladium, the BAFTA awards, several years of Royal Variety Performances, Michael Barrymore, Brian Conley, Quatermass and The Marriage of Figaro for BBC Four which won an award for best sound.
Recently Chris has been pioneering the emerging field of immersive audio and multimedia integration on projects like the opera Death and the Powers (Pulitzer Prize 2012 Nomination), Ladies and Gentlemen with the film director Jonathan Glazer and J Spaceman, the 5DX Immersive Experience and Sonic Topology at the Tate Modern, whilst bringing his experience to Walking with Dinosaurs (European and Asian Arena Tour), How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular (US Arena Tour - Helpmann Award Nomination) and most recently Rock of Ages UK Tour and capturing the beauty of Garsington Opera’s 2014 season.
