Alexander Caplen’s theatre work as sound designer includes;
The Witches, The Father and The Assassin,The Great Wave, My Country; a work in progress, We Want You to Watch and Hotel at the National; The Invisible Hand, Wife and Holy Sh!t at The Kiln; The Invisible Hand at the Tricycle; Winter Solstice, Martyr, The Events, Crave, Illusions and The Golden Dragon for Actors Touring Company; Occupational Hazards at Hampstead; A Time to Reap, Ding Dong the Wicked, Goodbye to all That, Wanderlust and Over There (also at Schaubühne, Berlin) at the Royal Court; Donkey Heart at Old Red Lion and Trafalgar Studios; It’s About Time for nabokov; Mine, Ten Tiny Toes and War and Peace for Shared Experience; and Peter Pan, Holes, Duck Variations, The Wizard of Oz and The Entertainer at Nuffield Southampton.
Opera includes: The Love for Three Oranges and Tosca at Grange Park Opera.
As associate sound designer his work includes: Translations, Follies and People, Places & Things (also in the West End and at St Ann’s Warehouse New York) at the National; Constellations at Duke of York’s; and Red Velvet at the Tricycle and St Ann’s Warehouse New York.
Other Work Includes;
Large scale Front-of-House engineering for live music and events.
Alex is Deputy Head of Sound & Video at the National Theatre.
